Installation guide for Välinge 5Gc locking hardwood flooring
12 Apr 2024
Step 1: Begin at the left corner of the room. Leave approximately 10 mm of space on the left side. Place the plank against the wall (with the locking edge facing inward).
Step 2: Place the second plank by inserting its locking groove into the groove of the first plank at an angle of approximately 20-30 degrees as shown in the diagram. While laying the planks on the floor, ensure that the two planks fit tightly together and there are no gaps between them. Then, use a rubber mallet to gently tap on the second plank to ensure that the locking mechanism functions properly.
Step 3: At the end of the first row, leave approximately 10mm of space from the wall, then measure the length of the remaining gap to ensure that when installing the flooring, it fits snugly into that space.
Step 4: Cut using a jigsaw with the wood face down or a handsaw with the wood face up.
Step 5: In the second row, the first plank should have a length equal to half the length of the first plank in the first row (Note: leave approximately 10 mm from the wall).
Step 6: For the second plank of the second row, place the plank by inserting its locking groove into the groove of the first plank at an angle of approximately 20-30 degrees.
Step 7: Lay the plank onto the floor by gently pressing down on the short end of the plank. While laying it down, ensure that the planks fit tightly together.
Step 8: Press or gently tap along the short end of the newly installed plank.
Step 9: After installing three rows, adjust the distance between the laminate flooring and the wall to about 10 mm.
(Note: for the last and first rows, remember to leave approximately 10 mm of space from the floor to the wall. Leaving a gap between the floor and the wall during installation allows for the expansion of the floor, preventing it from warping when the floor temperature rises).
Final Step: Install baseboards along the wall to cover the 10mm gap between the wall and the floor, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the flooring.
